Shade of war: Never ending soldier

In preview for the International Journalism Festival, a set of three film-documentaries on successive evenings with the general title Shade of War, in association with FX channel 131 on Sky.

A broken marriage behind him, a new girlfriend trying to convince him to stay at home and two daughters having nightmares about loosing their father in battle. Yet he is determined to go on a new mission. This time to Afghanistan. Søren has worked on missions in Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and several other places. He has promised his girlfriend that this is the last time he leaves on a mission – he has even asked her to marry him. Will he keep his word? What happens to him when the Taliban steps up their game and war and fear suddenly come closer than ever? Never Ending Soldier, by Mads Ellesøe, portrays a man battling his life’s greatest dilemma. Should he continue as a soldier even though it might cost him his family, or should he return to civilian life to please the people close to him? Caught in the crossfire of love and war, we witness how fear sometimes decides where to draw the line.
