From the web into the “real” public arena

One of the interesting features of the rise of social media is the huge pool of creative talent and social/civic commitment of all kinds it has revealed. Video-activism in particular is an effective means of bringing to the public’s attention issues which otherwise might be ignored or forgotten. How best to move from the web and into the “real” public arena? In other words, how can small self-contained web groups begin to really make a difference?
