The Daily, the world’s first iPad-only news app, will close on 15 December 2012. It was launched to considerable fanfare by the News Corporation on 02 February 2011, having recruited a variety of journalistic big-hitters from US mainstream media. Current losses are running at an estimated $30 million per year.
