The world of intercepts (by telephone or online) is often not fully understood. How do intercepts work and what are the risks for civil liberties, especially for those dealing with information such as journalists and their sources?

Wiretappings, internet intercepts, surveillance, parameter intercepts; in this workshop we will learn how they function, who implements them and what is done with the results. Valuable advice will be provided to protect one's own communication privacy, using common sense as well as free and open encryption technology.

There will be a particular focus on the real capabilities of a NSA-type institution and on who can ask for information from it.
