We know that listening to our audiences, amplifying their voices, and building conversation around our work all make for good journalism. But do these pillars of community engagement also make for good business? This session will examine whether engaged journalism can help solve the puzzle of business sustainability in the digital age. We’ll ask our international panel of engagement-focused entrepreneurs how they’re making the business case to partners and funders, what they’re learning as young startups, and what they consider the most promising opportunities for revenue growth through engagement in the future.

Organised in association with the Agora Journalism Center, the gathering place for innovation in communication and civic engagement, at University of Oregon's School of Journalism & Communication. Additional support was made possible through a generous grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
