The pandemic has accelerated the shift towards reader revenue models. Most of the news leaders recently surveyed by the Reuters Institute say that memberships and digital subscriptions will be their main revenue focus in the year ahead. This panel will explore three small but influential digital-born news outlets that have succeeded in convincing their most loyal audiences to pay for news online in Slovakia, Denmark, and Spain. The panel will be moderated by Eduardo Suárez, Head of Editorial at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism and the author of a paper on how to create a successful revenue model.
