Ugo Tramballi began his journalistic career in 1976 at the Italian daily Il Giornale where he was special correspondent in the Middle East, India and Africa and war correspondent in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Angola. Between 1987 and 1991 he was Moscow correspondent. Since 1991 he has been special correspondent for the Italian business daily Il Sole 24 Ore. He is an expert on the Middle East. He is a member of the Rome Institute for International Affairs and the Italian Center for Peace in the Middle East. He is the author of Dentro l’India, gli uomini e le città (1988), Quando finirà l’inverno. Viaggio nella Russia del dopo Eltsin (1999), L’ulivo e le pietre (2002) and Il sogno incompiuto (2008).
