The value of lobbying for democracy and growth in Italy

Lobbying in many countries is a trasparent, regulated activity which is recognized as a necessary and indeed healthy part of the democratic process. In Italy lobbying is difficult to extricate from the opaque influence-peddling and pernicious business&politics overlap that so characterises much of what passes for democratic decision-making. Does the new Italian political zeitgeist provide an opportunity for il lobbismo to venture out from under its rock? The panel will take as its starting-point the book Lobbying&Lobbismi, le regole del gioco in una democrazia reale (2012) by Gianluca Sgueo.
