How to recount the First World War one hundred years after its outbreak? By using the words of those who lived through it, with educational and interactive tools. This is the project entitled The Great War: soldiers' diaries by the Gruppo Editoriale L'Espresso and the National Archive of Pieve Santo Stefano. It is a website, a digital journalism tool, a scientific database. A new model, designed to liberate the archival heritage and make it accessible to anyone, anywhere, at any time.
