Many young Italians abandon education at the earliest possible opportunity. One in five fails to get even the basic leaving-school diploma. The Ahref Foundation has conducted a participative study of the phenomenon entitled La scuola abbandonata. Of interest is also the question of why the mainstream Italian media has so studiously ignored the issue for years.
