Diversity and inclusion in media is often the elephant in the room. Everyone cares about equal representation in the newsroom and the inclusion of underrepresented groups in the reporting. Everyone understands the economic benefits of diversity and yet we have a lot to do. It’s 2020, time to rethink how to succeed and reach equal representation and diverse coverage beyond gender equality. What can data and experimentation tell us about diversity and inclusion and their effect on the news industry? We will look at new research, innovation experiments and AI-driven technology that can make newsrooms and content more inclusive. We want to take this beyond a finger-pointing exercise and provide a thought-provoking debate about recent research, best practices and new technology.
