Antonella Mascia is a lawyer who has worked at courts in Verona (Italy) and in Strasbourg (France). She currently lives in Strasbourg, where she has worked as a jurist at the European Court of Human Rights from 2003 to 2007; at the Council of Europe from 2007 to 2009; as well as at the General Directorate for Human Rights, Torture Prevention Committee. She also works with the Directorate for regulatory activities and the European Commission for Democracy, aka The Venice Commission. Since 2010 Antonella has defended human rights activists, successfully advocating many cases at the European Court of Human Rights, on the subjects of abuses in detention, freedom of movement, environmental protection, confiscation and preventive measures, fairness of the trials and freedom of expression.
