Bernardo Bini Smaghi has served as Director of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti in Rome since May 2005, Head of Business Development Department, Responsible for the implementation of the new Italian Financial Institution for International Cooperation. He is also Chairman of the F2i infrastructure Fund, Chairman of Fondo Italiano Venture Capital FoF Investment Committee and a member of the Management Board of Marguerite and InfraMed infrastructure funds. Prior to joining CDP, he held several positions at Europrogetti & Finanza (EPF) in Rome, where he became General Director in 2002. During his 7 years with EPF, he worked with the private and the public sector on strategic, economic and financial projects. He has been a consultant of some important public agencies, and for 8 years a manager of the economic sector of the most important engineering Italian company, coordinating activities related to international organisations. He has been Professor of Project Finance and Project Development at the STOA' University and at Roma Tre, Dept. of Architecture.
Bernado Bini Smaghi is married with 4 children and obtained in 1982 from Universitè Catholique de Louvain a Degree in Economics and a Degree in Applied Mathematical Engineering.
