Bilva Chandra leads Responsibility Research & Strategy for frontier multimodal and world models at Google DeepMind. Her areas of focus include researching the impacts of advanced multimodal and novel media generation capabilities (e.g.: Genie 3) and bringing cross-functional teams together to tackle emerging risks from these capabilities.

Previously, she led the synthetic media workstream at the US AI Safety Institute, did pioneering product safety work for DALL-E at OpenAI, and fought malicious nation-state actors on the cyber threat team at LinkedIn.

In her free time, she is a Fellow at the AI and Democracy Foundation.
