Gaby Umbach is the director of GlobalStat and co-director of the Global Governance by Indicators project at the European University Institute in Florence. She holds a PhD in Political Science from Cologne University, where she was Senior Research Associate until 2014. Since July 2015 she has served as Book Review Editor of the Journal of Common Market Studies (JCMS). In 2009 she received the Stiftung Demokratie Award for outstanding research on democratic decision-making within the EU’s supranational polity. Her current academic work focuses on global governance by indicators and sustainable development.
