Jakub Skrzywanek

Jakub Skrzywanek is a director, author, creator of performative installations and artistic director of the Contemporary Theater in Szczecin, Poland. He is also the program curator of the Vaba Lava theater in Tallinn, Estonia.

A graduate of the Faculty of Drama Directing at the Academy of Theater Arts in Krakow, he studied Polish Philology at the University of Wrocław and on the DOK PRO course at the Wajda Master School. He has directed, among others, the performances Mein Kampf (Powszechny Theater in Warsaw), Immoral Stories (Powszechny Theater in Warsaw), Death of John Paul II (Polish Theater in Poznań), Spartacus. Love in the Time of Cholera (Contemporary Theater in Szczecin) and Undergrands Girls (Ilxom Theater in Tashkent). He is winner of the Polityka Passport in the Theater category (2023), the Artistic Award of the City of Szczecin for 2022 and the Konrad Laurel (main prize of the 21st National Festival of Directing Art Interpretations), as well as individual awards at the Kontakt festivals in Toruń and Divine Comedy in Krakow.
