
Katharina Hemmer is the managing director of the Swiss digital magazine Republik, a pioneering reader-funded publication for independent, advertising-free journalism. She has accompanied its strategic and operational transition from a high-energy startup into a sustainable, long-term media cooperative. Throughout her professional career she has focused on digital transformation, media sustainability and the role of professional journalism as a cornerstone of democratic public discourse, currently also serving as a member of the Board of Directors at espazium AG, a Swiss publishing house specializing in architecture and building culture.
Hemmer holds a PhD in Communication Science from the University of Zurich and a Masters in Communication from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
