Pelin Unker

Pelin Ünker is a Turkish freelance investigative journalist. She worked for the newspaper Cumhuriyet for ten years as an economics correspondent and finance editor. Her stories are now published by Deutsche Welle, Tageszeitung and some Turkish websites. She also worked on the ICIJ’s Panama Papers and Paradise Papers investigations.

Her work has included investigations on macroeconomic data on the state of the Turkish economy. She has also investigated corruption, tax avoidance and evasion, privatizations, public contracts and other subjects. Her work has been honoured with the Uğur Mumcu Investigative Journalism Award by the Progressive Journalists Association in 2016 and the Transparency Award by Transparency International Turkey in 2017.
