Salla-Rosa Gröhn is a producer and writer working for the Finnish public broadcaster Yle. She specialises in social media journalism that engages young 'hard-to-reach' audiences. Her goal is to create news, documentaries and factual content accessible to diverse groups. At the youth media brand Yle Kioski, she leads some of Finland's most talented young reporters and video journalists. She has produced and scripted documentary series and led teams dedicated to social media journalism across various platforms.
In 2021–2022, Salla-Rosa was a Fellow at LSE Polis, where she published a paper on what journalists can learn from influencers. Through this work, she has trained over 10,000 journalists and content creators as part of the UNESCO and Knight Center for Journalism project How to be a Trusted Voice Online.
She is currently a Fellow at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism. Her research project focuses on enhancing media literacy skills as part of social media content creation. Having previously explored what journalists can learn from influencers, her goal now is to identify ways to integrate elements into social media journalism that would foster critical thinking skills and enhance media literacy among (young) audiences.
