Gennaro Carotenuto

University of Macerata

Gennaro Carotenuto is a researcher in modern history specialising in Latin America and teaches the history of journalism and new media at the University of Macerata. He received his doctorate from the University of Valencia. He has taught at the University of  Montevideo in Uruguay, the University of Touzer in Tunisia and the École des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris. He is the author of Franco e Mussolini, la guerra vista dal Mediterraneo (2005), Storia e comunicazione. Un rapporto in evoluzione (2007) and Giornalismo partecipativo. Storia critica del giornalismo al tempo di Internet (2009). He has published frequently in the academic quarterly Latinoamerica since 1992. His articles have appeared in El Pais, La Stampa, La Jornada (Mexico) and Brecha (Uruguay). He writes a blog.
