Mikhail Zygar

editor-in-chief TV RAIN

Mikhail Zygar is the editor-in-chief of TV RAIN, Russia’s only independent television channel. Born in 1981, he studied international journalism at the prestigious State Moscow Institute of Foreign Relations and Cairo University. He joined Kommersant, Russia’s leading newspaper, in 2000. He covered military conflicts in such countries as Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, Serbia, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan. He was deputy editor-in-chief and head of the national desk at Newsweek Russia from 2009 to 2010. He was appointed editor-in-chief of TV RAIN in 2010. He is author of War and Myth (collection of his selected feature stories) published in St. Petersburg in 2007. He co-authored (together with Valery Panyushkin) GAZPROM. New Russian Weapon (2008). He is a lecturer at the International Journalism Department of MGIMO, Moscow State Institute of Foreign Relations. He is also a columnist at different Russian internet and print publications.
