Piera Detassis

Piera Detassis is an Italian journalist, essayist and film critic. Since 1997 she has been editor of Ciak film monthly magazine, until 2014 published by Mondadori Group and currently by Visibilia Editore. Born in Trento, she graduated in Padua in "Film History and Criticism" and specialized in Paris. In the 1970s she joined the Bolognese magazine Cinema & Cinema. In the 1980s she started working as journalist and writing for culture sections of the dailies L’Arena, L’Unità, Il Manifesto.

From 1985 to 1988 she supervised the Cinema Department of Modena Municipality and managed the school of cinema directed by Nanni Moretti. Author of many essays and books, she is the film critic for Panorama. In 2001 she was part of the jury of Venice Film Festival. She took part of the adventure of Rome Film Foundation since the first year and she has been its Director from 2008 to 2011. In February 2015 she was named President of Rome Film Foundation. In June of the same year she won Il Premiolino, the oldest Italian journalism award.
