Valerio Vartolo is a criminal lawyer. Specialized in Information Law, he is a legal consultant for Ossigeno per l'Informazione, the observatory on threatened journalists, as well as a member of the Law Center of Ossigeno per l'Informazione. He contributes to La rivista penale de la Tribuna where he comments on criminological legal issues. He has written comments several times on the main judgments of the Court of Cassation with regard to defamation, crimes against the Public Administration and involvement with the mafia. He teaches on the subject of the legal protection of journalists in training seminars and conferences organized by the Association of Journalists of Emilia Romagna and by Ossigeno per l'Informazione.
