#ijf18: monitoring conversations on social media platforms

As every year, this week DataMediaHub will be monitoring conversations about the International Journalism Festival taking place in social media platforms. The analysis of these conversations will provide an overview of the 12th edition of the International Journalism Festival, from a social media and online media perspective. Apart from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Tumblr, we will also take into account mentions on blogs, forums and news sites.

The daily reports, realised in collaboration with The Fool and using data from Crimson Hexagon, will be published every day from the 11th to the 15th of April, in the DataMediaHub website. The final analysis, with a summary of the highlights and conversation volumes, will be published in the Festival website and it will also be discussed during the annual closing press conference, on Monday 16.

Apart from conversation volumes, the report will identify the most influential authors and those who generated more engagement, the panels and workshops which gained more traction on social media, and it will provide a cluster analysis: basically, all quantitative and qualitative elements which can be drawn from the analysis. Finally, the report will also examine the Twitter and Facebook accounts of the festival.

As shown in the image below, ahead of the festival emotions expressed in conversations on social media have been largely positive and happy, while sad reactions have been expressed by those who can’t attend the festival. Our team at DataMediaHub shares this happiness and we are honoured to be here again this year. See you in Perugia!
