What are the points of contact and the differences between the crises affecting the two Italian regions of Campania and Lombardy? Lombardy seems to have become the dustbin of Europe. Money is the unmoved motor of the phenomenon in a business where committees in the hands of the mafia play their part. Also in the North, citizens inspired by the example of Campania have demanded studies and answers on a worrying fact: the increase in the incidence of cancer, especially among children. Meanwhile, much of the national press sweeps the issue under the carpet, defining the phenomenon as merely a Southern problem.
