Journalism is thriving in Africa! Journalists and media organizations are finding ways to adapt to the changing landscape, with more or less financial success but with innovation, creativity, and passion. Three examples (Africa Check’s consistent fact-checking, niche thematic focus on the priority topic for audiences across the continent - health - by outlets like Nigeria Health Watch and Bhekisisa in South Africa) will helps us understand effective syndication models, close and impactful collaboration across civil society, and new ways to keep up with the watchdog role of media in an environment in which consumption habits are taking a 180-degree turn.
