Opinion on TikTok is sharply divided. Regular users know that TikTok has become a forum for breaking news, first-person storytelling, and endless opportunities to learn. People who don’t use TikTok associate the platform with dance memes and funny cats.
If you’re in the latter camp, this workshop will show you how to use TikTok for newsgathering, and explain how the editing interface works. You’ll also learn how to identify your potential audience and get ideas for content to help you and your outlet stand out from the noise.
The session will be delivered by Corinne Podger, who has worked with New York University to help design a TikTok brand voice for The Intercept, and with Thomson Reuters Foundation to train hundreds of journalists and NGOs in Asia and Africa to use the platform.
