Alex Zanotelli

Alex Zanotelli, born in Livo (Trento) in 1938, completed his studies in Cincinnati (USA) and, in 1964, became an ordained priest. A Comboniano missionary, from 1965 to 1978 he lived in Sudan, and from 1978 to 1987 he was editor of the magazine Nigrizia. In 1988 he moved to Kenya and from 1990 to 2002 he lived in Korogocho, a shantytown of Nairobi, an experience that he recounted in the autobiographical book Korogocho. Alla scuola dei poveri (Feltrinelli 2003). Since April 2002 he has lived permanently in Italy, in the Sanità district of Naples where he continues his battle on behalf of the poor.
