Carolina Popolani is a film director of Italian-Sirian origin. After initial experience in the RAI, she worked for 13 years as a senior editor and producer for the Arab satellite TV network Television Orbit. She then founded Atabulo, a reportage and documentary production company, for which she has made Cairo downtown (2009) on Egyptian bloggers, selected for the opening ceremony of the 2011 Al Jazeera International Documentary Film Festival, and Sorelle di Zaynab (2011), winner of the 2011 Premio Internazionale Giornalistico Gino Votano.
