Carolyn Thompson

Carolyn Thompson is a freelance data journalist with a focus on East Africa. She reports on human rights, humanitarian crises, economies, refugee movements, policy and government accountability. Her work has appeared on CBC, Radio-Canada, France 24, NPR, News Deeply, Maclean's Magazine, among others. She previously worked as a media trainer with Journalists for Human Rights in South Sudan and Ghana, and as a reporter at several Canadian newspapers. She also taught computer-assisted reporting at a Canadian university. She was the Visiting Journalist in Forestry at the University of British Columbia in 2018 and participated in the Investigative Journalism Intensive at the Banff Centre for the Arts in 2017.
