Christopher Prentice is the British Ambassador to Italy. He first joined Her Majesty's Diplomatic Service in 1977. His previous roles include Ambassador to Iraq (2007-09), Ambassador to Jordan (2002-06), head of the Near East and North Africa Department, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (1998-2002), deputy Head of Mission, British Embassy, Budapest (1994-98) and Assistant Private Secretary to the Foreign Secretary (1990-93).
