Eduard Martin-Borregon

Eduard Martín-Borregón has worked as a freelance data journalist for El Mundo, The Gates Foundation, Antoni Gutiérrez-Rubí, Ara.cat and Universitat Pompeu Fabra, among others. In November 2011 he cofounded Data’n’Press, a data journalism and big data studio. Clients have included El Periódico de Catalunya, Vilaweb, eldiario.es and El Confidencial. In-house projects like twitterencatala.org and @resultados20n have also been developed.

Eduard has been a guest lecturer at UAB, Blanquerna-URL, UVIC and URV, a trainer at Col·legi de Periodistes and CCCB, and he has given workshops at Tv3 (Spain) and El Universal (México) newsroom. He promotes open data through OKFN Spain as a founder partner, organizing the Jornadas de Periodismo de Datos y Datos Abiertos, and is part of the initial group of Escuela de Datos, the Spanish speaking chapter of School of Data.

Furthermore, he is a member of several civic projects such as the Terrassa’s Citizens Municipality Observatory, that strengthen transparency trough budget visualizations and information requests. Apart from working with data, he has directed two documentaries: 5x55Terrassa (first documentary financed by crowdfunding in Spain) and A les vuit al Raval.
