Laura Oliver

freelance journalist

Laura Oliver is a freelance journalist whose work can be seen in the Guardian, BBC, The Week and more. She is a contributor to the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, where she reports on media and innovation in the Global South. She is co-founder of The Society of Freelance Journalists.

Laura has regularly worked as a trainer for the Thomson Foundation, Press Association and within newsrooms. Her training specialises in digital and social editorial strategy, audience development and social newsgathering, having previously worked for the Guardian as Head of Social and Communities and Conde Nast International as Acting Head of Audience Growth. She is currently studying for a Masters degree in creative writing, hoping to expand from journalism into fiction.
