Oliver Carroll

editor openDemocracy Russia

Oliver Carroll is the editor of openDemocracy Russia, the post-Soviet section of the UK-based global affairs network openDemocracy.net. After graduating from Cambridge University, Oliver spent five years working as a journalist in Russia — first at The Moscow Times, then as a founder editor of the Russian version of Esquire. The latter developed a strong independent presence in the Russian media marketplace and became a publication of choice for the nascent protest generation. Oliver maintains a close interest in Russia and the former USSR, and travels there several times a year.
