Sondre Solstad
Sondre Solstad is The Economist’s Senior Data Journalist. For his work covering the pandemic, Sondre is the winner of the inaugural 2022 Feature of Media Award. He has also been shortlisted for the "Data Journalist of the Year 2020" award by the Society of Editors, “Innovation of the Year” at the 2021 British Journalism Awards, best portfolio and best project at the 2022 Sigma Awards, and commended by the Royal Statistical Society in 2022. Upon invitation, he has advised the WHO on how to model the pandemic (2021-2022), and the UN on how to model political unrest (2022).
Sondre was previously at Princeton University, where he received his PhD in international relations in 2020, and has since September 2022 been an affiliate at the Institute for Quantitative Social Science at Harvard University, dedicated to solving society’s greatest challenges through bold and collaborative social science.
