Susan Ness is a former member of the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the founder and co-chair of the Transatlantic Working Group on Moderation of Content Online and Freedom of Expression (TWG), a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. The TWG encourages adoption of scalable solutions to reduce hate speech, violent extremism and viral deception online while protecting freedom of expression and a vibrant, global internet. She also is a Distinguished Fellow at the German Marshall Fund, where she focuses on digital technology policy issues, and the head of Susan Ness Strategies, a communications policy consulting firm.
