Mar Cabra is head of the Data and Research Unit of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists. She's also vice-president of the Spanish chapter of the Open Knowledge Foundation. Her award-winning work has revealed the systematic use of tax havens, misuse of EU fishing subsidies, overfishing in the South Pacific, exposed the lucrative trade of body parts and the overmedication of foster children in the US. She was a Fulbright Scholar and Stabile Fellow at the Columbia University Journalism School. Her work has been published in the International Herald Tribune, Le Monde, El Pais, the BBC and PBS, among other media. Mar teaches data journalism in several master degrees and coordinates activities on the topic in Spain. She received the 2012 Spanish Larra Award to the country's most promising journalist under 30.
