Ian Campbell Ross is Emeritus Professor of Eighteenth-Century Studies at Trinity College Dublin, where he co-founded the Centre for Irish-Scottish and Comparative Studies. Author and editor of numerous works on British, American, and European literature, he translated Gian Gaspare Napolitano’s In guerra con gli scozzesi, as To War with The Black Watch (2007). An updated edition of his Umbria: a cultural guide (2012) was published by Volumnia Editrice, Perugia; it will appear in a UK edition from Signal Books in summer 2013.
