Lorenzo Tondo is a journalist and a Guardian correspondent covering Southern Europe and the migration crisis. He previously worked as a stringer for the New York Times and Time magazine. He has also worked for 5 years in Palermo as an investigative reporter for the Italian national newspaper la Repubblica. Tondo is a former winner of the Maria Grazia Cutuli International Journalism Award as ‘’best young Italian journalist’’ and won the Giuseppe Fava antimafia National Journalism Award. He is the author of the book Il Generale.
