Myles Smith

Myles Smith is a Senior Director at Internews, an international non-profit that organization empowers people with the trustworthy, high-quality news and information they need to make informed decisions, participate in their communities, and hold power to account. He supports global program design and implementation in Africa, Asia, Europe and Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East and North Africa. He also provides leadership on the strategic development of the organization, including bringing in best practices from the private and for-profit media industries into Internews’s practices. He also oversees Internews’s engaged journalism portfolio in the United States. In his spare time, Myles and his spouse founded a community engagement and neighborhood revitalization movement in their corner of Washington, DC.

Prior to joining Internews, Myles held a range of positions in media, technology, economic development and journalist security at IREX and AECOM. He spent five years as a program manager and freelance reporter in Central Asia, based in Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as a year studying Russian in Moscow.
