Nela Lazarević

Nela Lazarević is a journalist from Montenegro currently based in Trieste. She has been working as a correspondent from Italy of the Montenegrin daily Vijesti since 2010, covering Italy-Montenegro relations, including key investments by Italian companies in the Montenegrin energy sector and the ongoing trial for 1990s sigarette smuggling in Bari. She has been working as a freelance journalist since 2005, publishing articles, photo and video reportages on topics ranging from cultural heritage "on sale" in Montenegro to Nazi camp survivors in Munich and waste trafficking in Italy. Her collaborations include a number of international outlets focusing on the Balkan region such as Balkan Insight, Transitions Online, ANSA New Europe and others. She was a Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) Fellow for Journalistic Excellence in 2009. She holds a degree in Journalism from the University of Florence. She currently contributes to the specialised ANSA Nuova Europa news portal in Trieste.
