Ozge Mumcu Aybars

Ugur Mumcu Investigative Journalism Foundation

Özge Mumcu Aybars is a founding member of the Uğur Mumcu Investigative Journalism Foundation, which was founded in 1994 by family members of the assassinated Turkish investigative journalist Uğur Mumcu. She currently sits on the foundation’s executive board and is the project coordinator of the foundation’s European Commission-funded project on Dissemination of rights-based journalism through civil society.

Özge Mumcu Aybars has contributed to the newspapers Cumhuriyet and BirGün and the T24 newssite since 2010. She previously worked as an advisor for NGOs in the fields of EU relations, Council of Europe relations, constitutional amendments, the peace process and human rights, and is now a consultant to Turkey’s main opposition party CHP.
