Swantje Dake

editor Stuttgarter Zeitung & Stuttgarter Nachrichten

Swantje Dake is editor-in-chief digital of Stuttgarter Zeitung and Stuttgarter Nachrichten. She is in charge of the online department for both regional news sites and some smaller websites such as Stadtkind (a hub for young people), Mahlzeit (gastronomy-hub) and News711 (a local news site for young people). Stuttgarter Zeitung and Stuttgarter Nachrichten both have a long tradition as printed newspapers – so the challenge is to turn a traditional newspaper house into a digital-minded work space.

Swantje Dake studied Scandinavian studies, communication sciences and cultural studies in Münster Germany and started to work as a journalist twenty years ago – writing for newspapers. She became an editor at the Hamburger Morgenpost in 2003 and worked there for a couple of years. In 2008 she became an editor for stern.de in the travel department, later worked in the news department and was from 2012 to 2015 in charge of the newsroom of stern.de. In November 2015 Swantje moved to Southern Germany to start building up a new digital team in Stuttgart which is still growing.
