Steffi Dobmeier

Steffi Dobmeier is the Managing Editor and member of the Chief Editorial Team at Funke Zentralredaktion Online in Berlin. She helped to develop and build the new central organized digital newsroom in 2015 that provides national and international news for 15 regional websites in Germany (e.g. www.morgenpost.de, www.waz.de, www.abendblatt.de and www.derwesten.de)

Steffi started working in online journalism in 2011 after several years as a politics reporter when she was the managing editor both for online and print at taz.die tageszeitung in Berlin. From 2013 to 2015 she worked as a writer and editor for Zeit Online, one of Germany’s leading online news websites.

Steffi has been awarded several fellowships. In 2010 she was an Arthur F. Burns fellow at The Oregonian in Portland, Oregon and came back three years later when she reported on natural catastrophes in the U.S. as a Kellen fellow on a 5-week research grant. Steffi has been a member of the German-American Journalist Program of Robert Bosch Foundation and Johns Hopkins University for about ten years and is active in several networks that support and encourage women in digital fields.
