Tania Karas

managing editor Refugees Deeply

Tania Karas is the managing editor of Refugees Deeply as well as an editor for Global Nation, the US immigration desk of Public Radio International’s daily show The World. She is based between Chicago and Athens. Tania is the founder and coeditor of Give Me Your Tired, a US-focused weekly newsletter on global migration policy. In 2018 the newsletter earned her recognition as the Online News Association’s MJ Bear Fellow, an honor for journalists under 30 whose work represents the best of new media. From 2015-16 Tania was a Fulbright fellow in Greece reporting on the refugee crisis at a time of financial crisis. Her reporting has appeared in Reuters, The Wall Street Journal, Foreign Affairs, IRIN News, Women in the World/The New York Times, The Nation, and elsewhere. From 2012-14 she was a staff reporter covering US immigration and courts for the New York Law Journal.
