Valerio Mastandrea, actor and director, made his cinema debut with the film Ladri di cinema (1994). The consecration came a few years later with Claudio Caligari's L'odore della notte (1998). Among his most important films, in a career of over 70 titles, are Gente di Roma (2003), Lavorare con lentezza (2004), N - Io e Napoleone (2006), Tutta la vita davanti (2007), Un giorno perfetto (2008), Giulia non esce la sera (2008), Nine (2008) La prima cosa bella (2010), Romanzo di una strage (2011), Gli equilibristi (2012), Viva la libertà (2013), Non essere cattivo (2015), Perfetti sconosciuti (2016), Fai bei sogni (2016), Diabolik (2021) and Zeros and ones (2021). As a director he made the film Ride (2018). In 2021 he also lent his voice to the armadillo character in the animated series Strappare lungo i bordi, created by Zerocalcare. He has won four David di Donatello awards, including two for Best Actor (2010 and 2013) and two for Best Supporting Actor (2013 and 2017), three Nastri d'Argento, including one for Best New Director (2018), and a Pasolini Pigneto Award (2002).
