Joanna Krawczyk
Joanna Krawczyk is a media and CSO development expert and leader who builds socially impactful media strategies and projects, with over 15 years of experience in media management and philanthropy.
She was Head of News Partnerships in the Polish biggest legacy newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza and the President of Gazeta Wyborcza Foundation where she established the first in Poland Investigative Reporting Grant Scheme for regional journalists and Local Media Development Program. She initiated and run the European-scale Ukrainian Media Fund, a multi-stakeholder consortium of Nordic, European, Ukrainian and international partners financially supporting media and journalists in Ukraine and designing scenarios for Ukrainian media recovery and transformation. She was also the Chairwoman of the Leading European Newspaper Alliance and acts as the Member of the Management Board of the European Media and Information Fund.
Under her leadership, the Gazeta Wyborcza Foundation was awarded the Golden Pen of Freedom Award for standing as a beacon of independence and as a bulwark against authoritarianism by the World Association of News Publishers.
Currently she continues building strategies for Ukrainian recovery and supporting democracy and security in CEE as a Deputy Director at German Marshall Fund of the United States, where she focuses on the Modern Marshall Plan for Ukraine development and implementation.
