Jakub Parusinski is the Chair of the Media Development Foundation (MDF), a non-profit center of expertise whose goal is to empower journalists. Based in Kyiv, MDF’s key programs include a media start-up accelerator, investigative journalism conference MezhyhiryaFest, as well as various educational programs. Founded in 2013, MDF has trained over 550 media workers and secured over 350 internships for early career journalists.
A former journalist, Jakub has written for New Eastern Europe, the Financial Times and the Economist. In 2013-2014 he served as CEO of the Kyiv Post, Ukraine’s leading English-language publication, during which time it became the first Ukrainian recipient of the University of Missouri Honor Medal for Distinguished Service in Journalism. Jakub holds degrees in Economics from the University of Gdansk and Political Science from the Central European University. Following an MBA at INSEAD, Jakub worked as a consultant with McKinsey in London in 2015-2018 focusing on digital strategy and transformation.
