Viktorya Vilk is program director for digital safety and free expression at PEN America, where she leads initiatives on a range of free expression issues. She develops tools, strategies, and training to empower writers and journalists, as well as their allies and employers, to defend against online abuse, and she has spearheaded research and advocacy to raise awareness about the impact of the local news crisis. Viktorya has over a decade of experience working in nonprofits to expand access to the arts and defend freedom of expression. She graduated summa cum laude with a BA from Boston University and pursued her graduate degrees on a Marshall Scholarship at the University of London.
